Basketball Preview: Athens Academy Spartans vs. East Jackson Eagles
Athens Academy is 6-0 against the Eagles since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Athens Academy Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Jackson Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Athens Academy had to suffer through a rough 69-34 loss at the hands of the Leopards. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Athens Academy in their matchups with the Leopards: they've now lost five in a row.
Meanwhile, East Jackson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by Union County 79-26. East Jackson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-11.
Athens Academy's loss dropped their record down to 13-11. As for East Jackson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.
