Softball Recap: Justin Garza Beats Hoover for Their Third Straight Win

Justin Garza put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Hoover Patriots. That's more bragging rights for the Guardians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gracie Uribe spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Justin Garza saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aditi Sood, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Sood is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Riley Nason was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Justin Garza's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Justin Garza will host Torres at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hoover, they will head out to face off against Fresno Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
