Football Recap: Decatur Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Decatur extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They took a blow against the Austin Black Bears, falling 47-6. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Black Bears are ranked 33rd).

Donovan Jarman threw for 28 yards on six of 11 attempts. Quaylen Hampton was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards. On the ground, Devin Haley rushed for 38 yards and one TD.

As for Austin, the victory got them back to even at 1-1. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their seven-point performance the game before.

Austin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Qadir Lyle, who rushed for 41 yards and one score, and also threw for 247 yards while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt. Those 247 passing yards gave Lyle a new career-high. Aidan Davis was another key back, rushing for 80 yards and one touchdown.

Decatur wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 48-13 defeat against Jasper on the 5th. As for Austin, they have also already played their next contest, a 29-7 victory against Sparkman on the 5th.
