Baseball Recap: Bishop's Comes Up Short

Bishop had lost five straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 10-9 to make it six. They lost 7-1 to the La Jolla Country Day Torreys. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since March 8, 2025.

Bishop's saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clyde Kates, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for La Jolla Country Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

On La Jolla Country Day's side, they got a great performance from Elias Hanley as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Hanley has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sebastian Rock, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mitchell Circuit, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

While Bishop's had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
