Basketball Recap: Heritage Comes Up Short

Heritage saw some tournament action on Monday. They fell just short of the Cornerstone Christian Cougars by a score of 66-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Jace Bernard, who posted 19 points. The dominant performance gave Bernard a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Nate Grube, who scored 12 points.

Cornerstone Christian found their leader in sophomore Benjamin Lukacs, who had 30 points. Lukacs' evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jayden Stewart was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Heritage now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Cornerstone Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Heritage has already played their next game, a 69-56 loss against Liberty on the 21st. Cornerstone Christian has also already played their next contest (against College Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
