Volleyball Recap: Izabella Martinez-Roybal Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Buena

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pueblo, Cienega was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Buena Colts by a score of 3-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Cienega had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-21.

Cienega got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Izabella Martinez-Roybal out in front who had 17 digs and one assist. Those 17 digs gave Martinez-Roybal a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria LeMaster, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Cienega's record now sits at 10-7. As for Buena, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four matches and leaves them with a 8-11 record.

Cienega wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Flowing Wells on the 16th. As for Buena, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Catalina Foothills on the 16th.
