Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Grant Conrad and Sawyer Hake Lead Pewaukee to Victory

While Pewaukee's victory against Greendale wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Panthers on Wednesday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (113-109) Pewaukee actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-23, 27-25, 24-26, 16-14.

Pewaukee was led to victory by Sawyer Hake and Grant Conrad. Hake had 17 digs and four aces, while Conrad had 23 assists and five digs. Those four aces gave Hake a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Pewaukee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greendale only served nine.

When it comes to explaining why Greendale lost, don't look at Jakup Ademi. Despite the final result, he had 20 digs and two aces.

Pewaukee picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 10-15. As for Greendale, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Pewaukee will host Martin Luther at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greendale, they have already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Hmong American Peace Academy on the 2nd.
