Basketball Preview: Calhoun Christian Cougars vs. Athens Indians
The Calhoun Christian Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Athens Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
After soaring to 70 points the game before, Calhoun Christian were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 78-20 loss at the hands of Stockbridge. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Calhoun Christian has scored all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Athens, who are still winless after their 15th matchup. They took a serious blow against Mendon on Thursday, falling 66-26.
Despite the loss, Athens had strong showings from Kale Kiefer, who scored nine points, and Addison Stanton, who scored five points along with two steals.
Calhoun Christian dropped their record down to 6-9 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
Everything came up roses for Calhoun Christian against the Indians when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-28 win. Will Calhoun Christian repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
