Football Recap: Rich Piles Up the Points Against St. Joseph

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rich). They claimed a resounding 71-40 victory over the St. Joseph Jayhawks. The Rebels not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since November 16, 2024 (when they won 50-14).

Wilkes Weston went supernova, rushing for 102 yards and one touchdown, while also catching one score. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Jett Holmes was another key passer, throwing for 109 yards and three TDs on only ten passes.

Rich's run defense was locked in: St. Joseph could only muster 0.7 yards per carry. While six picked up at least two total tackles, Weston stood above the rest. He rushed for 102 yards and one score, and also caught one touchdown. Rich didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 16.7.

Rich didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bode O'Mealy and Nash Parry. Parry got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the defeat, St. Joseph saw an underclassman step up: freshman Keenan Campbell threw for 252 yards and five TDs.

Rich's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for St. Joseph, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Rich does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Joseph, they will host Water Canyon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jayhawks will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
