Basketball Recap: Jenkins Falls Short of Calhoun in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Jenkins can now relate to. The game between the Jenkins Warriors and the Calhoun Yellow Jackets didn't end well, with the Jenkins Warriors falling 72-53. The Warriors were down 55-35 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Calhoun found their leader in freshman Trace Hawkins, who went 10-for-17 on his way to 26 points and four steals. Hawkins' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hammett, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Jenkins' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-13. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for Calhoun, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 20-3.

Jenkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Calhoun, they have already played their next contest, a 64-57 loss against Dougherty on the 22nd.
