Baseball Recap: Balboa Buccaneers vs. Lowell Cardinals
Balboa had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it seven. They lost 14-1 to the Lowell Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 on Wednesday.
As for Lowell, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Lowell's part, Reggie Fong was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Fong has posted over his last 11 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Muchowski, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Balboa will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mission at 3:30 p.m. on the 30th. As for Lowell, they will face off against Woodside at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Wildcats have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
