Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Williams

Piedmont is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Williams is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Piedmont Highlanders will host the Williams Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Piedmont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Colusa get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the RedHawks are ranked 546th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Williams won against Lowell on Tuesday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Thursday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Williams who was credited with the win. Williams got it done in the shootout by posting nine goals to Caruthers' eight.

Williams is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That somehow still isn't as good as their 15-1 record this season. Piedmont's victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
