Softball Game Preview: Kamehameha Maui Warriors vs. Baldwin Bears

Kamehameha Maui hasn't had much luck against Baldwin recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Warriors will face off against the Bears at 10:00 a.m.

Kamehameha Maui is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lahainaluna.

Lilinoe Kawaiaea made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Tehani Yamamoto also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Baldwin put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand King Kekaulike a 10-0 shutout. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Briana Maio-Silva (Ana) was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Kekia Kaaa-Saltiban was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

Baldwin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Baldwin's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Kamehameha Maui, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
