Baseball Game Preview: North Rangers vs. Riverside Beavers

For the second straight game, North will face off against Riverside. The Rangers will face off against the Beavers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. North has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Riverside will come in with four straight victories.

North made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rangers fell just short of the Beavers by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday.

For Riverside's part, Zach Koenig and Mason Pozo dominated on the mound. Koenig pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Pozo struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Koenig has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Baker, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Riverside is undefeated when Baker posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Mo Dolce was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.

The win got Riverside back to even at 6-6. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
