Baseball Game Preview: Williamsville North Spartans vs. Williamsville East Flames

The Williamsville North Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Williamsville East Flames at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Williamsville North and Williamsville South faced off in a cross-town battle on Saturday. The Spartans came out on top against the Billies by a score of 10-6.

Lucas Cordero looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Caleb Okulewicz was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Santino Syracuse also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Williamsville North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Williamsville East earned a 5-1 victory over Clarence on Friday.

Noah Kaiser tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Steinacher, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Stanfield, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Williamsville East is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Williamsville North, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Williamsville North couldn't quite get it done against Williamsville East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
