Baseball Game Preview: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Elko Indians

The Dayton Dust Devils will head out to take on the Elko Indians at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Dayton has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 21.

Dayton's last matchup with Fernley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Dust Devils came up short against the Vaqueros, falling 10-3. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Meanwhile, while it was Elko who put the first runs on the board on Saturday, it was Churchill County who put up more. The Indians lost 14-3 to the Greenwave.

Elko saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Kidwell, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. Armando Acosta was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Elko, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Dayton might still be hurting after the 14-4 loss they got from Elko in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Dust Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
