The North Gaston Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Freedom Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Gaston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

North Gaston easily dispatched Stuart W. Cramer on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. North Gaston fell just short of Crest by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

North Gaston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydance Hampton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Freedom had taken Hibriten down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. Freedom lost 23-11 to Hibriten.

Rhiley Buchanan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Kaitlin Taylor also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Even though they lost, Freedom was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. This was only their second loss (out of six games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Freedom has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. North Gaston now has a losing record of 3-4.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Gaston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Freedom struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
