Golden Valley piles up the points against Buhach Colony

Make it ten blowout wins for the Golden Valley Cougars this season. They breezed by Buhach Colony at home to the tune of 78-51 on Wednesday. Given Golden Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Thunder are ranked 1007th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Golden Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was David Denson out in front who scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that Denson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Castleton, who scored 15 points.

Buhach Colony's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Chapman, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chapman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Sahota, who scored 14 points.

Golden Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Buhach Colony, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-15.

Golden Valley will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Buhach Colony, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Gauchos at 7:15 p.m. El Capitan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 263 points over their last four matchups.
