Basketball Recap: Rosemead Takes a Loss

Rosemead was the 48-44 winner over El Monte when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Rosemead Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 30-29 to the El Monte Lions. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Rosemead lost, don't look at Rhys Anderson. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points. Anderson is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Huynh, who scored seven points.

Rosemead moved to 11-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for El Monte, their win ended a 20-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-19.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rosemead will square off against Marshall at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for El Monte, they will face off against Mountain View at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. El Monte is facing Mountain View at the right time seeing as Mountain View is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
