Softball Game Preview: Payette Pirates vs. Homedale Trojans

Payette is 2-8 against Homedale since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pirates will head out to take on the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Payette is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They fell 9-4 to Caldwell.

Payette saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucia Walker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI. Sam Parsons was another, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Meanwhile, Homedale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-3 to Cole Valley Christian.

Emily Taylor put in work no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 12 unearned) runs off 13 hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Homedale's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Payette, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-7.

Payette suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Homedale when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
