Football Recap: East Rankin Academy Comes Up Short

East Rankin Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Lamar Raiders and fell 34-6. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Brandon Loper threw for 40 yards. Jordan Bedford was his top target, picking up 40 receiving yards.

Lamar's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sullivan Reed, who threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Reed a new career-high in passer rating (146.8). Another rusher making a difference was Dkharian Towner, who rushed for 69 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

East Rankin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Lamar, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Rankin Academy will challenge Park Place Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamar, they will square off against Simpson Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
