Basketball Recap: St. Paul Comes Up Short

St. Paul was the 40-35 winner over East Bernard when they last played one another back in December of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Paul Cardinals took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Bernard Brahmas on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 938th, while the Brahmas are ranked 443rd).

Ashlynn Lemos continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Bernard, putting up 21 points and six steals. Lemos is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Shae Salcido was another key player, posting ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for St. Paul and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for East Bernard, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

St. Paul wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-4 win against Rice Consolidated on the 7th. As for East Bernard, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-20 victory against Edna on the 7th.
