Volleyball Recap: Tacony Academy Charter Lions vs. Olney Trojans
After flying high against Philadelphia High School for Girls last Monday, Tacony Academy Charter came back down to earth. The Tacony Academy Charter Lions fell 3-1 to the Olney Trojans on Monday.
Tacony Academy Charter took a 1-1 lead headed into the third set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-9, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17.
Leading Olney to victory were Yorianny Velasquez and Wilvianys Garriga. Velasquez had 15 aces, three digs, and a kill, while Garriga had 13 aces. Another player making a difference was Joselyn Rodriguez-Almendra, who had four aces, two kills, and a block.
Tacony Academy Charter's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Olney, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tacony Academy Charter is on the road again on Wednesday to play Mastery Charter South co-op [Mastery Charter Lenfest/Mastery Charter Thomas] at 3:15 p.m. As for Olney, they will square off against Kensington at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
