Baseball Recap: Centralia Victorious

Centralia owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Richland County Tigers. For the Orphans, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Archie Goewey tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Centralia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Koch, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Koch is becoming a predictor of Centralia's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Another was Drake Fahringer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The win got Centralia back to even at 3-3. As for Richland County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Centralia didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 7-4 defeat against Salem on the 28th. As for Richland County, they are taking a road trip to take on Civic Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
