The Rockville Rams are taking a road trip to take on the Woodstock Academy Centaurs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Rockville is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Rockville had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Civic Leadership on Friday. The Rams put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Rockville was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-9, 25-15.
Rockville can attribute much of their success to Wesley Foo, who had ten digs and two assists. Nathaniel Thompson also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.
Rockville was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Woodstock Academy had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Trailblazers 3-0.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Woodstock Academy took every set by at least 20 points. The final score came out to 25-3, 25-5, 25-4.
Woodstock Academy's win came from a few key players Rockville will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Evan Chernik, who had 14 aces. Those 14 aces gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Weston Mission, who had 12 assists.
Rockville pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Woodstock Academy, their record now sits at 9-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: Rockville has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.3 aces per game. However, it's not like Woodstock Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 12 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
