League recap: Lehi enters state Top 25

5A Region 4 recap October 1, 2013

Lehi was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Spanish Fork. The Pioneers came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.

Lehi was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in 5A Region 4. Earlier in the week, David Hastings' team defeated the Dons 45-13.

Jonah Trinnaman made the biggest impact on defense this week as American Fork lost to Lone Peak. The 6-foot-0 senior.

Baron GAJKOWSKI was a passing and rushing force as the Knights defeated the Cavemen. He completed 11 passes for 230 yards and also ran for 237 yards. GAJKOWSKI's favorite target this week was Dylan MURDOCK, who caught 3 passes for 94 yards.

GAJKOWSKI was a force in the backfield as Lone Peak defeated American Fork.

Braydon Kener put up the best numbers through the air as Herriman bested Westlake. He finished with 6 completions for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kener's favorite target this week was Conner Johnson, who caught 3 passes for 112 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Jacen Condie of Aaron Behm's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,502. He has also thrown 11 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Spencer Romney. The Pleasant Grove star has 20 catches for 554 yards.

The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Cavemen and the Mustangs. American Fork enters the contest ranked 10th in the state, while Herriman ranks 17th.

The Thunder fell to Dustin Pearce's team 48-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
