Soccer Game Preview: Willow Canyon vs. Sunrise Mountain

Willow Canyon hasn't had much luck against Sunrise Mountain recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Willow Canyon Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.

Willow Canyon fell victim to Paradise Valley and their airtight defense on Monday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain waltzed into their contest on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their defense stepped up to hand the Scorpions an 8-0 shutout. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by three goals or more this season.

Sunrise Mountain pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five games. As for Willow Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Willow Canyon came up short against Sunrise Mountain in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Willow Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
