Softball Recap: Midland Valley Takes a Loss

Midland Valley fell victim to Gilbert and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2018.

Larue Hicks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Midland Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Gilbert, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

While Midland Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
