Volleyball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Rocklin Thunder + How To Watch

The Whitney Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Rocklin Thunder at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Whitney took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Granite Bay, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Grizzlies 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Whitney took Granite Bay into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Rocklin got the win against Davis Sr. on Monday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won five in a row.

Rocklin never let Davis Sr. on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-14, 25-14.

Whitney better keep an eye on Ava Pabalate. She was instrumental in Rocklin's win, getting 23 assists. Allison Hartsoch also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Rocklin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Whitney's record now sits at 9-17. As for Rocklin, their record is now 29-4.

Whitney might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Rocklin when the teams last played back in September. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
