Basketball Game Preview: First Coast Buccaneers vs. KIPP Bold City Greyhounds

The First Coast Buccaneers will face off against the KIPP Bold City Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for First Coast and 26 for KIPP Bold City dating back to last season.

First Coast is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Bishop Snyder on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. First Coast lost 63-39 to Bishop Snyder. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Cardinals are ranked 111th).

Meanwhile, KIPP Bold City didn't have quite enough to beat Wolfson on Wednesday and fell 27-24.

First Coast will need focus on slowing down Raniya Lawson, one of several KIPP Bold City players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameriah Jackson, who earned six points.

KIPP Bold City's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for First Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Everything came up roses for First Coast against KIPP Bold City when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 57-15 victory. In that contest, First Coast amassed a halftime lead of 41-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
