Baseball Game Preview: Stockdale Mustangs vs. San Luis Obispo Tigers

The Stockdale Mustangs will head out to challenge the San Luis Obispo Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Stockdale's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so San Luis Obispo's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Stockdale came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against St. Joseph, falling 8-2. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Stockdale got a good showing from Gabriel Borja, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That hit was Borja's first of the season.

On the hitting side, Brayden Gutierrez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for San Luis Obispo, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Paso Robles on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bearcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Gabe Vigil was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Drenckpohl, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

San Luis Obispo picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Stockdale, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
