Soccer Game Preview: Goochland vs. Albemarle

Goochland hasn't had much luck against Albemarle recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m.

Monday just wasn't the day for Goochland's offense. They came up short against Charlottesville on Monday, falling 3-0. Goochland have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Albemarle kept a clean sheet against Fluvanna County on Monday. They came out on top against the Flying Flucos by a score of 2-0. Given Albemarle's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Fluvanna County are ranked 229th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Albemarle's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those six games. As for Goochland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Goochland couldn't quite get it done against Albemarle when the teams last played back in April as they fell 3-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
