Pell City proved they can win big last Friday (they won by four) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Altamont Knights 4-3. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Knights are ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pell City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight games. Altamont's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Pell City will host Hokes Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Altamont, they will face off against Cornerstone at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Altamont will be up against Cornerstone's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.75 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
