Basketball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Syracuse Titans

Layton hasn't had much luck against Syracuse recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Layton Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Syracuse Titans at 5:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Layton is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Friday. The match between them and Fremont didn't end well, with Layton falling 50-36. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Silverwolves are ranked 18th).

Meanwhile, Syracuse unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Farmington, falling 60-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Titans have suffered since February 9, 2024.

Layton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Syracuse, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-3.

Layton suffered a grim 48-24 defeat to Syracuse in their previous meeting on January 10th. Can Layton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
