Softball Recap: Durand Railroaders vs. Genesee Wolves
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Owosso, Durand was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Genesee Wolves as they made off with an 18-3 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Railroaders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Molly Hull and MaKenzie Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Hull went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Jones went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that Hull has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Hayli Pugh, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Durand always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Genesee only posted an OBP of .400.
Durand's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Genesee, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
Looking ahead, Durand will look to defend their home field on Monday against Byron at 4:00 p.m. As for Genesee, they are taking a road trip to face off against Bendle at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
