Basketball Game Preview: Ogden Tigers vs. West Field Longhorns

The Ogden Tigers and the West Field Longhorns will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ogden is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Ogden is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Provo on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Ogden came up short against Provo, falling 62-37. The Tigers were down 54-32 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 22-22 at halftime, West Field was not quite Draper APA's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell 56-43 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Eagles are ranked 27th).

Ogden will need focus on slowing down Meghan Petersen, one of several West Field players who made an impact when they last played. She posted eight points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Tailey Buckway, who had four points.

Even though they lost, West Field smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

West Field has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Ogden, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
