Volleyball Game Preview: Loyola Academy Ramblers vs. Barrington Fillies/Broncos

The Loyola Academy Ramblers will take on the Barrington Fillies/Broncos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Loyola Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Vernon Hills. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Ramblers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Loyola Academy who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Barrington was able to grind out a solid win over Rochelle Zell Jewish on Monday, taking the game 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fillies/Broncos.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Barrington took both sets by at least 14 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-3.

Barrington's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-11. As for Loyola Academy, their win bumped their record up to 16-20.

Loyola Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Barrington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. Will the Ramblers repeat their success, or do the Fillies/Broncos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
