Preview: Grove City Eagles vs. Hickory Hornets
The Grove City Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Hickory Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Even though Grove City has not done well against Meadville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Grove City walked away with a 57-47 victory over Meadville. The win made it back-to-back wins for Grove City.
Meanwhile, Hickory entered their tilt with Farrell with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Hickory managed a 61-57 win over Farrell last Wednesday. Given Hickory's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Farrell is ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grove City's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Hickory, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Grove City beat Hickory 47-40 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will Grove City repeat their success, or does Hickory have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
