Vacaville (Calif.) had a big 28-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 49-7 victory over Vintage (Napa, Calif.).
The Bulldogs scored on a
Curtis Goins touchdown run, a touchdown run by
Jacob Te'o, a defensive touchdown and a
Nic Ardave touchdown pass to
Daniel Agbigay in the quarter.
Vacaville was up 42-0 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
David Mewborn in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs expanded their lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. Vacaville scored once in the quarter on a
Daniel Mewborn touchdown run.
Mewborn was the top performer for the Bulldogs. The junior wingback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Crushers' lone touchdown came on a 67-yard pass in the fourth quarter.
Vacaville had struggled this season, allowing 35.4 points per game. However, the Bulldogs' defense dug in and limited Vintage well below its season average of 17.0 points per game.
Vacaville also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 63-26.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Bulldogs, which lost to Deer Valley last week, 55-35.
Vintage (2-4) goes up against Rodriguez in a Monticello Empire game matchup next week, while Vacaville (3-3) locks horns with Armijo also in a Monticello Empire game.
