Football Game Preview: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars vs. Spring Valley Grizzlies + How To Watch

The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars are taking a road trip to take on the Spring Valley Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Pinecrest Academy Cadence has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Spring Valley will arrive with three straight victories.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence managed to slip by Chaparral the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cougars were outmatched by the Cowboys and fell 48-20. The Cougars were already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Kellon Trubey put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for eight yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 117 yards on seven of 19 attempts.

Meanwhile, Spring Valley hadn't done well against Sierra Vista recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Grizzlies walked away with a 14-7 win over the Mountain Lions. The game was the first time the Grizzlies have beaten the Mountain Lions on their field since November 1, 2019.

The critical scores for Spring Valley came from King Kahalewai and D'Terrion Richardson.

Spring Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kahalewai. Spring Valley got some further help from Lito Olivas: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 12 total tackles.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Spring Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence couldn't quite get it done against Spring Valley when the teams last played back in September of 2024 as they fell 25-12. Thankfully for the Cougars, Adrian Oceguera (who threw for 210 yards and two TDs on only 19 passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
