Soccer Game Preview: Notre Dame Prep vs. Darien

The Notre Dame Prep Lancers will venture away from home to face off against the Darien Blue Wave at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Notre Dame Prep will be strutting in after a victory while Darien will be coming in after a loss.

Notre Dame Prep took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against New Fairfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lancers won by a goal and slipped past the Rebels 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for Notre Dame Prep as it spelled an end to their four-match losing streak.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Darien's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They came up short against Greenwich, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Darien can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut soccer rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Greenwich are ranked 20th).

Notre Dame Prep's victory bumped their record up to 4-10-2. As for Darien, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1.

Notre Dame Prep might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Darien when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
