Basketball Recap: Zack Draughn Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

Wilson Prep won the last time they faced Southeast Halifax and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wilson Prep Tigers walked away with a 60-53 win over the Southeast Halifax Trojans. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Trojans are ranked 535th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wilson Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zack Draughn out in front who went 6 of 7 en route to 16 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Keontae Barron, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Wilson Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southeast Halifax only racked up ten assists.

Despite the loss, Southeast Halifax still got an impressive performance from O'Tavion Arrington, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. With that strong performance, Arrington is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Clinton Mills Jr. was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 10 points.

The win made it two in a row for Wilson Prep and bumps their season record up to 9-3. As for Southeast Halifax, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Wilson Prep has already played their next contest, a 71-62 loss against Northampton County on the 17th. As for Southeast Halifax, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 58-53 defeat against Nash Central on the 16th.
