Preview: Lumberton Panthers vs. Ethel Tigers
The Lumberton Panthers are on the road again on Friday and play against the Ethel Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lumberton beat Resurrection Catholic 19-14.
Meanwhile, Ethel put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Noxapater 28-8.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ethel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bobo Hubbert, who rushed for 107 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Hubbert was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 60 yards. Jaylen Estes did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 99 receiving yards.
Lumberton's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Salem and 3-7 East Marion (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.9% over those games). As for Ethel, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
