Hoover was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by the Bullard Knights 70-13. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Despite the loss, Hoover had strong showings from Keon Hill, who picked up 143 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Justin Brewington, who threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Hill got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 80 yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (82 yards to be exact) also went to Pamir Oliver, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Tyler Franklin had an outrageously good game for Bullard as he threw for 232 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. Franklin is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Devon Laney, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.

Hoover's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bullard, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Hoover will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Madera South at 7:00 p.m. on September 19th. As for Bullard, their road trip will continue as they head out to face Bakersfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran up and down the field in their prior games.
