Basketball Recap: Northwest Comes Up Short

It was a classic North v. South duel when Northwest faced off against Southeast on Friday. The Northwest Grizzlies were outmatched by the Southeast Golden Buffalo and fell 63-26. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Buffalo this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-41 back in December of 2024.

Southeast found their leader in freshman Kamaria Mercy, who dropped a triple-double with 17 points, 11 boards, and ten steals. Southeast is 4-2 when Mercy posts three or more steals, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Queen Chalmers, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Northwest has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Southeast, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-7.

Northwest has already played their next matchup (against East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Southeast also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Heights.
