Softball Recap: Rochelle Hubs vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders
Rochelle barely beat Ashton-Franklin Center the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hubs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Raiders a 10-0 shutout on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hubs also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Lauren Dyer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Briel Metzger and Jaclynn Lira did most of the damage at the plate: Metzger went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Lira went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI Lira has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Madigan Williams, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
Rochelle's victory bumped their record up to 8-19. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they dropped their record down to 3-29 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home.
