Recap: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Uwharrie Charter Eagles

The Eastern Randolph Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Uwharrie Charter. Eastern Randolph was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Uwharrie Charter apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Eastern Randolph lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kenly Whitaker, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ziera Watson, who scored six points along with three steals.

Uwharrie Charter was led to victory by Nevaeh Staples and Hannah Williams. Staples scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Williams scored 11 points along with two steals. Abbie Gudino was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.

Eastern Randolph bumped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Uwharrie Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Eastern Randolph will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Trinity comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Uwharrie Charter will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Southwestern Randolph at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Southwestern Randolph presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Uwharrie Charter in North Carolina (Southwestern Randolph is ranked 114th, while Uwharrie Charter is ranked 308th).
