Basketball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Mater Dei Catholic was the 75-41 winner over Madison when they last played one another back in December of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders took a 77-63 bruising from the Madison Warhawks on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (56), the Crusaders still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Mater Dei Catholic still got an impressive performance from Davaughn Hueitt, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Krasniqi, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Mater Dei Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February.

Madison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caleb Gleason led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Moore, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds.

With the defeat, Mater Dei Catholic broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6. As for Madison, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Mater Dei Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 83-63 victory against Helix on the 21st. As for Madison, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-54 loss against Mission Bay on the 21st.
