Softball Recap: Mission Bears vs. Lowell Cardinals

Mission extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 21-0 to the Lowell Cardinals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 1-0 back in March.

As for Lowell, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games.

For Lowell's part, Laura Valencia made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Valencia has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Lowell got a massive performance out of Aja Saraf, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Saraf has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Kline, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mission is set to square off against their familiar foe Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lowell will take on rival Galileo at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
