Recap: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Harrison Raiders
There's no place like home for the West Lafayette Red Devils, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 53-42 victory over Harrison on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for West Lafayette, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Adrianne Tolen was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Sarah Werth, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals.
Harrison lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Riley Whitlock, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 40.5% of Harrison's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kiersten Guyer was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
West Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Harrison, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-11.
West Lafayette will be playing in front of their home fans against McCutcheon at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully McCutcheon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. As for Harrison, they will take on Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 388th, while Harrison is ranked 139th).
